Contradicting Definitions
Within two days users Chrabros and Geozeisig created pages for this tag in English and German respectively. The definitions differ quite substantially, though. The English page states
The tag zoo=wildlife_park is used to describe wildlife park a.k.a. safari park which is a type of zoo (tagged with tourism=zoo) where the animals are roaming free and visitors drive through in a car or a bus.
In short in English: That definition focuses on the wildlife park having mainly native animals (non-native would be in a zoo). Other amenities like playgrounds and pet zoos exist and visitors are expected to pay an entrance fee or donate.
There are currently roundabout 90 features in OSM tagged with zoo=wildlife_park. Can you two authors explain why there is this fundamental difference and make a suggestion how to resolve it? -- TZorn (talk) 09:48, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
--geozeisig (talk) 09:54, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
- OK. The definition was changed to "German version". But there are some safari parks tagged as zoo=wildlife_park as well. Also I think that the native English speakers would tend to use this tag according to the original "English version". What shall we do with it? Should we mention this alternative English meaning here as well? Chrabroš (talk) 08:20, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- A Safari-park is not a wildlife-park. Why not a complementary tag with description also for the safari park? I'm ready to create a Wiki description. -- RoGer6 (talk) 15:44, 01 May 2017 (UTC)
- A Safari-park is not a wildlife-park. Well, Wikipedia says otherwise. What tagging do you propose? Chrabroš (talk) 00:52, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
- I thought it over again. Maybe it is necessary that we add zoo=safari_park. It is already used 11 times. (Sorry RoGer6 that I corrected you in that point).--geozeisig (talk) 10:38, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
- "Maybe it is necessary that we add zoo=safari_park" +1. Chrabros: That is the proposal that I mean. Who created a description. I'll do it, too. -- RoGer6 (talk) 17:20, 02 May 2017 (UTC)
