I realize that YOU know what OSM is, and what is involved in mapping. maybe. But you know, if you want people to come out to this don't assume that everyone knows what you are talking about because I don't, and a friend I sent your page to doesn't. So, spill the beans. What do we do on a mapping whatever? Thanks.merci Oh btw I will not spend a precious hour on a beautiful sunny cold Saturday attending a "what is OSM" meeting if I don't have a pretty good idea of what it is about. and if you don't want to tell me, I won't waste my time.

I could spend an hour hunting down what it is all about somewhere else, but I have already spent enough time on this. see ya

That's great! Thanks for the extra info. I don't have a GPS, so that may handicap me?!

• Yes and no. A GPS is greatly recommended / required to collect gps tracks. But not at all required to attend and find out about OSM. Others will be there just out of curiousity. - i am not sure who to address this to but there is no cost mapping available for the province of Ontario. The province was GPS'd in 2001 and this data with street names and addresses is available through Land Information Ontario. You can also download this data from the http://www.geographynetwork.ca. As well there is no cost mapping available from the feds at the Geobase website. You can download the data freely. Btw this data can be distributed etc freely...
