Dear editors,
On this page we should have a better treatment of the inhabited places related to its classification status: towns – villages. Namely, the presented classification is according to the conventions in key:place , which defines places to be tagged as:
• city (above 100.000 inhabitants);
• town (between 10.000 and 100.000 inhabitants);
• village (below 10.000 inhabitants).
This criterion, in my opinion, is not suitable here, because the classification of the places in Republic of Macedonia not depends on the number of their inhabitants. Whether a place will be treated either as a town or as a village in this country depends on the lifestyle in that place - urban or rural, i.e. it depends on that – by which kind of work activities the inhabitants in some place accomplish their existence: primary (agriculture)- in the villages, secondary, tertiary… activities – in the towns and cities.
By the Law on Territorial Organization of the Local Self-government in RM (Закон за територијалната организација на локалната самоуправа во РМ) article 10 [1] , in Republic of Macedonia there are 33 towns which are seats of the appropriate municipalities (without Skopje). The other 41 municipalities (from 34 to 74 without Skopje) are with seats in appropriate villages. And, 10 municipalities (of total 84) are in Skopje. According to this law, towns are: Berovo, Bitola, Bogdanci, Valandovo, Veles, Vinica, Gevgelija, Gostivar, Debar, Delčevo, Demir Kapija, Demir Hisar, Kavadarci, Kičevo, Kočani, Kratovo, Kriva Palanka, Kruševo, Kumanovo, Makedonska Kamenica, Makedonski Brod, Negotino, Ohrid, Pehčevo, Prilep, Probištip, Radoviš, Resen, Sveti Nikole, Struga, Strumica, Tetovo and Štip. According to the exposed above, in my opinion we should change the classification of the places related to their status: town – villages, ignoring the key:place conventions.

- I very much agree with Blagadusha. It looks like I am the main editor of the WikiProject Macedonia page so far. The reason why is: nobody else did it. So I did. The city/town/village definition on the page is a 1 to 1 copy of the overall OSM agreements so far. I encourage everybody to question everything that is on the WikiProject page and to discuss it here. What Blagadusha says above makes very much sense. What is the position of the Macedonian community on this wiki, in respect the recent name change from Macedonia to North Macedonia? I don't want to touch anything in case I screw up and they get angry at us. --ika-chan! (talk) 20:43, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
