ol within ul
Note that with the change, you have not nested the list of bridges in the list of features within the section, but rather created it besides it, not linking the two logically. This is problematic both semantically and for users with screen readers. In general, we prefer to minimize nesting to provide for better navigation and hotlinking (akin to structures used on gemini), so it would be even better to move those to their own section. -Bkil (talk) 10:50, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
Can we use the xmpp: URI scheme
Some of the XMPP MUC links on the page include an intermediate https:// trampoline website. Isn't this redundant, considering the xmpp: URI scheme has been standardized for decades now and is also rendered by MediaWiki? Bkil (talk) 23:42, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- xmpp: URIs can only be used by those who already have an XMPP client installed. Using a web invite link is preferable because it allows the link to be accessible to those who don't have an XMPP client installed. - Contrapunctus (talk) 07:47, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I have to disagree here. You have already listed various options of how to install an XMPP client. We must assume that whoever is interested in such a MUC will already have either a native one installed or have visited a hosted XMPP client web app in their web browser that clicked yes an enabling the browser based xmpp: protocol handler already. Why would anyone else want to click on the link of a given MUC? And finally, why promote the provider of xmpp-link and not some other landing page instead? Bkil (talk) 13:35, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
Suffixing each XMPP MUC URI with ?join
Is this necessary or common practice? Does it help certain web browsers or XMPP clients to more reliably open the MUC? Bkil (talk) 23:44, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- ?join is used by invitation pages to distinguish between 1:1 chat and rooms. Note how https://xmpp.link/#openstreetmap@conference.macaw.me?join says "Join the chat room Openstreetmap" whereas https://xmpp.link/#openstreetmap@conference.macaw.me says "Add Openstreetmap to contact list". - Contrapunctus (talk) 07:52, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, that sounds reasonable. Bkil (talk) 13:32, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
English-language room
"English speaking" is the grammatically correct term, not "English-language" Bkil (talk) 06:14, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
