Ubuntu
Ubuntu (ubuntu.com) is a Linux distribution based on Debian. It currently uses Unity as a desktop environment by default. Several official variants exist, including Kubuntu - using KDE as desktop environment, Ubuntu GNOME - using GNOME, Xubuntu - using Xfce, and Lubuntu using LXQt. For programs with an Ubuntu package name, you can install them using the Ubuntu Software Center: just search for the name and click to install. Alternatively, from the command line install the package directly:
sudo apt-get install <packagename>
