I'm Chris Morley. I have no background in cartography, databases, server programming or even serious bike riding. I am mapping Chester UK and its surroundings with the aim of gradually extend a local area which is "completely" mapped (well, the metalled roads anyway). Currently (E&OE) this is about 70 km2, which is only about 0.03% of the UK. We need to recruit a lot more people to finish the job!
Originally became interested in May 2006 because I wanted to draw a map of my local footpaths for the parish website. But somehow I haven't got round to it yet.
I use a Garmin GPS60, transfer tracks via GPSBabel and edit using JOSM.
