This user wiki page is all about relations - as in the collection of nodes and ways grouped under some over-arching heading.

The following tags are used with route relations :

colour = official colour : hex triplet / 3 hex digits / CSS https://www.w3.org/TR/css-color-3/

description = additional pop-up info for map users

distance = distance in km, with decimal point, not comma, w/o 'km'

name = the (official) name of the route

network = lcn / rwn

note = for use by other mappers

operator = whichever (public) body conceived and maintains the route

osmc:symbol = machine readable description of route markers, using a limited array of values (symbol is the way of describing the route markers as one would face-to-face or on the phone to another person) see : https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:osmc:symbol

route = bicycle / foot / hiking / walking / riding /

signed_direction = yes (better than oneway, which will confuse as foot can go against the flow of motor vehicles) see : https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:signed_direction
