I have been supporting GIS in academia for over 10 years, currently through [| MIT GIS Services]. We help people think through their project ideas, find data, and learn how to use the tools they need. MIT GIS Services helps support a dynamic community working to solve exciting, real-life problems.
I have a personal and professional interest in openstreetmap. I am a strong believer in open data and community participation. I also consistently point MIT students and researchers to openstreetmap as a data source for their international projects, and as a resource for contributing data they may collect when traveling to remote places around the globe.
I have helped organize and host several OSM mapping parties around the Boston/Cambridge area, and am helping to organize the first Boston Wherecamp to be held Oct. 29-30, 2011.
I am also a member of OSGEO, the local OSGEO Boston chapter, and the OSGEO Education group.
In the realms beyond geospatial, I have very strong interests in health, wellness, and community. I am a certified yoga teacher and hold relaxed meditative breathing and gentle movements sessions to help others release stress and relax. I also teach computer basics to adult immigrants through the [|Welcome Project].
