Interested in all aspects of using OSM in "serious GIS" and also in the evolution of the 'state of the map'... so how did the map get to where it is today and what were the types of user contributions..
I try to use OpenStreetMap mapping in all aspects of my work: lecturing of web-mapping (OSM, Leaflet, OpenLayers), data mining lectures (OSM, PostgreSQL PostGIS), research (OSM and other forms of UGC VGI).
I also attempt to use Open Source software at every available opportunity - sometimes in my work I have interaction with Windows and Mac but this is unavoidable.
Currently using Python + R + Matplotlib as my weapons of choice.

Outside of academia - like to take photographs (http://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/) and am hopelessly addicted to running - I have ran over 55 marathons (up to June 2013) (here I am in May 2013 http://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/8731034317/in/set-72157633477860140) with a PB of 2:34 for the marathon and decent performances at other distances including PB in 2013 of 15:38 for 5KM.
