maybe you could help a bit with making a list of railroads to map in Montana. Have a look at the Montana/Railroads page in the Wiki; I have tried to get an overview there of what is and what should be mapped in Montana. OSM currently has no standard way of mapping "historical" information, as the main goal is to create a map of "what is" on the ground right now. Abandoned railways wouldd be mapped in places where there are still traces visible in the field or at least the right-of-way has not been re-used for something else (because otherwise we want the map to show the "something else", at least in the default view). There are some people working on mapping historical data, so you might want to get in touch with them. An example would be at HistoryProject. --Lyx 13:05, 18 April 2011 (BST)
