- Please don't use copyrighted maps as a data source for OpenStreetMap edits
- To meet other mappers from your country, add these lines to your wiki userpage:
- [[Category:Users in your country|Al21]]
- [[Category:Users in your city|Al21]]
- Join your regional mailing list
- Take a look at the Beginners' guide
- And if you have any questions, look at the FAQ page, or just ask!
Have fun mapping!

Whitewater Maps
Hi Al.
Welcome to OSM and welcome to WikiProject Whitewater Maps. Get stuck in!
I was chatting to User:Steve8 on IRC just recently. He was talking about tracing over rivers from old NPE maps (see WikiProject United Kingdom Waterways#Rivers) that's going to be a good thing in the UK (gives us a rough layout map of lots of rivers) and it's a task we can chip away at without getting wet!
But yes we can improve upon that level accuracy by logging GPS traces on the rivers, and also gathering whitewater grading and hazard information.
Have fun!

Hi Harry,
Sorry I didn't reply here before, I'm not too familiar with the whole Wiki thing, so please forgive me if I make a bit of a mess of this.
With the summer holidays just started I hope that I shall get my eldest lad out in the canoe and start adding to the maps waterway features.
My local rivers hardly fall into the whitewater category, but I guess details of the Yorkshire Derwent access points and its features would still be welcome. Do you wish to have details from the canal system or is this project intended to be strictly for whitewater only?
I guess I'll have to fire up IRSSI and join you in IRC for a chat soon.
Glad to have made contact.
Al
