User talk:Gadenz
Hello Simone,
I saw your presentation on SOTM2010 and I would like to know: Why did you start a big project like accessibility without
- having a look at what is already there
- including the community
- asking on the wiki.
I have already explained in Girona, on the relevant pages on OSM wiki and also in the Accessibiliy mailing list that the project we are coordinating s external to OSM. If not yet clear you can see the presentation i published on slideshare.For your enquiries: - i had a look to what it was done but it was not suitable for our project and the mapping criteria as well as the accessibility model were defined by active citizens - we have our reference community that is external to OSM. We discusse d with them about the mapping criteria and accessibility model and we have just started considering how to contribute the results to OSM - we asked to the mailing list but no relply. Gadenz
My impression is, that you have made up a whole new tagging scheme for wheelchair accessibility and you have not published it and not discussed it, an now you have a project running and we will have totally different tags because yours are not always wisely chosen.
Right. As said our criteria and accessibility model have been defined by participants. So far there is no link from our accessibility database and OSM repo. Gadenz
You have no edits at all on the existing wheelchair accessibility pages here on the wiki.
See above. Gadenz
That's a pity. It could really have been better.
This is your point of view and I am sure you are right because I tend to think that there is always a better way to do thinghs. For expample, I guess you can do better explaining what could have been done better during data collection and criteria definition also considering:
- the timeline and phases of the project
- the intents;
- the social and political context;
- the reference community;
- the urban structure;
- the italian rules;
- the scales of analysis;
- the final product.
That would be really usefull for triggering a constructive discussion. Gadenz
I hope you get in contact soon.
I had already been in touch, I wonder why you did not take the chance to talk to SOTM10 intead. Gadenz

Ciao Gadenz
I wanted to talk to you at SotM, but did not find you again. Maybe I am not good at remembering faces, sorry.
So when will you present your tagging ideas here in the wiki and see how they fit with the current discussion?
Actually I am not interested at all in your
- the timeline and phases of the project
- the intents;
- the social and political context;
- the reference community;
- the urban structure;
- the italian rules;
- the scales of analysis;
- the final product.
I am just interested in tagging that will work for all users and for the next generations of OSM.
I have an interest that no silly tagging needs to be removed and replaced afterwords.
