I will undo your edit in the Map Features editor keys. First because it is not an editor key but a validator key. Second because the noname issue is a very controversial subject already discussed with passion here Proposed features/Noname and in the Talk mailing list. You can simply not impose unilaterally this maplint solution in the main Map Feature page. We need a global solution for all noname validators. -- Pieren 11:52, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I see now it's temporary for a test. In this case, a short announcement on the ML or a better comment on the page would avoid my undo. Sorry about that. -- Pieren 12:37, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Edit war about smoothness
Please try to find an agreement on how to find a solution on this edit war. Use the mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org where I raised a thread about your conflict which happens since 7 days now (title is "Edit war on the wiki "map features"". -- Pieren 16:28, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- Would you agree with the suggestion of User:Sletuffe on the ML ([1]) to re-open the proposal discussions/vote which seems to be the best compromise after the long discussion in the ML ([2]) ? Personnally I could see a good point if we move it out from the Map Features page and give a second chance for people who dislike this tag to argue de pros and cons between adults. -- Pieren 12:04, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Sure. I just don't want it to break the built process of maplint. User:Petschge 17:35, 4 December 2008
Tagstat
Are you the creator of Tagstat? I was going to mention it in my talk at the SOTM conference. Unfortunately it seems to be broken at the moment :-( ... (seeing a db connection error)

Yes, I am. It was down due to general hypercube problem but is back again. Nice to see it mentioned in you talk. -- Petschge 15:54, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Icon for shop=bakery
Hello,
I saw you marked the ticket #2167 as closed because your changeset 17024 added the icon of shop=bakery in Osmarender. But I think the ticket was about the Mapnik rendering (which is default with the given example url)? Do you think it is possible to add it in Mapnik too? Thanks. Damouns 15:33, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
It is certainly possible, but I'm not in charge of mapnik cartography. You can either open a new ticket or reopen the existing one. If you do so make sure that the component is no longer set to osmarender. Petschge 16:45, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- I had not seen the "Component" attribute: I understand now why it was marked as closed. Thank you for your explanation! Damouns 07:49, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Missing file information
Hello! And thanks for your upload - but some extra info is necessary.
Sorry for bothering you about this, but it is important to know source of the uploaded files.
Are you the author of image File:Unitar unosat.jpg ?
Or is it copied from some other place (which one?)?
Please, add this info to the file page - something like "I took this photo" or "downloaded from -website link-" or "I took this screeshot of program XYZ".
Doing this would be already very useful.
Licensing - photos
In case that you are the author of the image: Would you agree to open licensing of this image, allowing its use by anyone (similarly to your OSM edits)?
In case where it is a photo you (except relatively rare cases) author can make it available under a specific free license.
Would you be OK with CC0 (it allows use without attribution or any other requirement)?
Or do you prefer to require attribution and some other things using CC-BY-SA-4.0?
If you are the author: Please add {{CC0-self}} to the file page to publish the image under CC0 license.
You can also use {{CC-BY-SA-4.0-self}} to publish under CC-BY-SA-4.0 license.
Once you add missing data - please remove {{Unknown|subcategory=uploader notified March 2022}} from the file page.
Licensing - other images
If it is not a photo situation gets a bit more complicated.
See Drafts/Media file license chart that may help.
note: if you took screenshot of program made by someone else, screenshot of OSM editor with aerial imagery: then licensing of that elements also matter and you are not a sole author.
note: If you downloaded image made by someone else then you are NOT the author.
Note that in cases where photo is a screenshot of some software interface: usually it is needed to handle also copyright of software itself.
Note that in cases where aerial imagery is present: also licensing of an aerial imagery matter.
Help
Feel free to ask for help if you need it - you can do it for example by asking on Talk:Wiki: new topic.
Please ask there if you are not sure what is the proper next step. Especially when you are uploading files that are not your own work or are derivative work (screenshots, composition of images, using aerial imagery etc).
If you are interested in wider discussion about handling licencing at OSM Wiki, see this thread.
