Suggest me an easy way to get accurate GPS tracks from Iphone? --Pavi 18:25, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Okay recording accurate tracks with iPhone is challenging. I had some really good tracks recorded with my iPhone and some others are totally off. It seems to be connected with the speed you are moving and (of course) clear sky view. So before submitting my iPhone recorded tracks I have a closer look at them using JOSM and if they are at least quite good I'll upload them. Using a bike is the highest speed I would suggest - better would be walking. Also take same way back gives you another track and the truth may be just inbetween :)

For recording tracks I use MotionX which is a great GPS-Tool anyway including downloading maps for offline use and more. Highly recommended! --SetKo 18:52, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Yes . I was using an app called 'trails' which allowed me to take photos but I was unable to tune it for accurate readings . xGPS lite is giving the best readings . I agree with the 'truth' statement :)

The place where I am mapping doesn't have a recognisable zoom level from Yahoo imagery Sure an almost correct path is worth more than no path at all, so I'd suggest you take MotionX for a hike at least twice and while walking you can see the recorded track. If both tracks differ too much you might even want to do it again. Same problem here now with the trees having leafes. This also confuses my other device (Garmin Vista). --SetKo 18:31, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
