Park vs. recreation_ground

The definition of park is differing in various cultures. In continental Europe, parks are designed by landscape designers, they are often protected by a fence and sometimes require an entrance fee. There are often signs like "Do not touch the lawn!"

The recreation_ground tag indicates an area that is explicitly dedicated to sports and picnic - rather like a badly maintained camp_site than like a well-preserved garden.

The difference between park and recreation_ground is a little bit similar to the difference between hotel and motel or fast_food and restaurant. Is it just an area with grass or did they create an amazing landscape?

Cuyahoga Valley NP

One thing that's been on my to-do list for a couple years has been to finish mapping the boundaries of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. I stopped at Chippewa Rd. in Brecksville back in 2010, leaving a jagged edge there, but never got around to extending the boundary relation up to Independence and so forth. The Park Service has reasonably detailed public domain maps of the park, as well as coordinates of various points of interest. I don't think I'll get around to finishing the boundary anytime soon, so it'd be great if a local mapper could pick up where I left off. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 19:39, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
