I also work under Windows so let me share a few of my experiences. You decide if it is appropriate for this page. First I use gpsbabel for downloading trackdata from my gps unit (Garmin eTrex with serial cable) Somehow I never got the user interface to work but the command line i use is

gpsbabel -t -i garmin -f COM4: -o gpx -F foobar.gpx

This gets me a gpx file that I can use for most editors. Of course I prefer my own : Merkaartor. It is available as a native windows binary so that might be a slight advantage for Windows users over JOSM--Bartv 12:14, 26 October 2006 (BST)
