Hi first of all do you speak greek?
1. The data i use is directly from Government and using plugins i import each depending on what i want to work with in josm directly where i have to separate each boundary for each area (village?), and upload only the specific boundaries. After I edit them/tags and make the relation. it takes about 30 minutes for each village, i am a perfectionist and an error of 0.000001 in boundaries must be deleted and done from the beginning. i invest a lot of time and i don't recommend the process to anyone else as its very easy to mess and upload wrong data and ruin it. Currently my goal now is map boundaries for Limassol, after other cities.
2. Postal code areas are pretty useful, for villages is just one for each but for cities, huge amount.
3. never trust dog shit maps like google. even for searching a gas station when you are far from your area and low on gas. i had to wait 4 hours in the road because of the fake POIs of google. also for things like this: https://imgur.com/a/C4g6iPu
For smaller divisions same procedure can be done with again official government files.
https://imgur.com/a/ENABk9k take a look at the link with boundaries created by you, and data from the government. Its pretty close but NOT perfect. such boundaries especially municipalities must be perfect as a house can be determined if its for example Mesa Geitonia in limassol, or Agios athanasios. (i corrected those today take a closer look if you want). if you want i can teach you hopefully if you are a very good with josm.
The only data i didnt find yet from government is correct lines between cyprus and brititsh/turkish areas ;/
have fun mapping <3 ps check organic maps navigation app on android or iphone, its is new beatiful open source and love <3
Overpass queries for Cyprus
Thanks for adding the overpass queries for the schools! However, just a heads up that the telephone number one is searching for tel=*
while the key for phone numbers is phone=* PeachyOne (talk) 19:22, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
