Tunisia is a country in Africa at latitude 34°15′00.00″ North, longitude 9°27′00.00″ East.
Tunisia is the northernmost country in Africa. It is a Maghreb country and is bordered by Algeria to the west, Libya to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north and east. Its area is almost 165,000 square kilometres (64,000 sq mi), with an estimated population of just over 10.4 million. Its name is derived from the capital Tunis located in the north-east. The official language is Arabic, French is also spoken in urban parts of the country.

Conventions
Toponymy, the names of places
The general rule is that the names of the places are written eactly as they are written on the local signs. In Tunisia the names of the towns, villages and streets are written in the official language Arabic. The name of a town, village, street, building, river or restaurant in Arabic is used for the OSM tag "name=" as well as in the tag "name:ar=". The name in other languages are added with language coded tags, for example French: "name:fr=". Alternative names can be added with the tag "alt_name=".

Objectifs
Pour débuter, le plus urgent est de cartographier les axes routiers, De préférence avec le nom (attribut name=إسم الشارع) L'idéal est de disposer de plusieurs traces GPS pour chaque route mais vu que cela est très difficile, les contributeurs peuvent commencer avec une seule trace.
Important : Ne copiez pas d'autres cartes avec du contenu en copyright et utilisez des données de sources libres et/ou avec l'accord de leur(s) auteur(s). Pour information, vous pouvez utiliser les cartes Yahoo! Aerial Imagery et Bing.
Gouvernorats
La Tunisie est divisée en 24 gouvernorats qui portent le nom de leurs chefs-lieux. Nous recherchons toujours un moyen de cartographier leurs limites géographiques
