Delete |description from wiki page

In general no, but for some translation people decided to use data items and leave infoboxes blank. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Talk:Wiki#Transition_to_use_data_items_when_this_can_be_done_without_loosing_information for through (overly thorough) info. Deprecated pages

Some pages (sport=gaelic_football ...) use the {{Deprecated function template which automatically inserts values into the sidebox. E.g.:
{{deprecated |oldkey=sport |oldvalue=gaelic_football |newtext={{Tag|sport|gaelic_games}}}}.
Will any template and Data items be used for the processing of these pages even after switching to Data items? -- Lenochod (talk) 08:56, 25. September 2022 (UTC)
