Clatsop is a county in Oregon at latitude 45°54′00.00″ North, longitude 123°41′02.40″ West.
User:Brian Wilson works for Clatsop County and will (eventually) work on determining what data might be available from the county. They sell some data but it's not clear at this time what the status on importing it to OSM might be.
Brian copied this page from the one for Benton County, Oregon (where he used to live) so the format is the same but so far it's mostly empty.

Places
The GNIS for Oregon was imported, and this covers Clatsop County, but it's wildly inaccurate at scales useful for street maps. All GNIS points need to be checked and corrected. The imported GNIS data is also quite old now.
Parks
Only a few parks have been mapped. Boundaries need to be added from GIS data and trails and amenities need to be added by field mappers.
Data sources
User: Brian Wilson has been using GPS and Bing photos and local knowledge to update the map so far by adding footpaths and building footprints and re-aligning/correcting streets.
Brian is looking at importing from Microsoft Building Footprints by working on small areas. A quick check of Astoria footprints shows they are a good starting point but are often skewed or just wrong, so a bulk import would be a mistake. There are a few hundred buildings that were put into OSM by hand and he does not want to stomp on those either, since they are probably more correct than the Microsoft data.
There is LiDAR data available through the NOAA Coastal Atlas and DOGAMI. The intensity images probably show more accurate building footprints than Bing photos, so they are worth looking at. Data that's NOAA source should be unencumbered. Check DOGAMI status before using it.
