December 18, 2023 regular meeting of the OpenStreetMap United States Board of Directors

Call to Order

Diane called the meeting to order at 3:33pm, Eastern, via video conference.

Present:

• Maggie Cawley (Executive Director)
• Diane Fritz (President)
• Brian Sperlongano (Vice President)
• Adam Franco (Treasurer)
• Matthew Whilden (Secretary)

Reports

• The Executive Director (ED) provided an update to the board on OSM US’s activities over the prior month.
  • Updated on staff activities and status for December

Old Business

• Mapping USA & State of the Map US
  • Discussed the status of Mapping USA and SotMUS - both on track.
• Vote on Whistleblower policy & Conflict of Interest policy so we can share with 1% For the Planet
  • Whistleblower policy approved by board after review
  • Conflict of Interest policy approved by the board after review

New Business

• Jess Beutler has stepped down as Program Director, with her last day on Dec 29, 2023. Maggie is working with Jess to transition her duties to other members of the staff. The board approved the following statement:

"The OSM US board of directors would like to thank Jess Beutler for her service as OSM US's Program Director. We want to publicly acknowledge the positive impact she has had in her many tasks at OSM US including organizing in-person and virtual events, managing charter projects, and generally keeping shop with her documentation skills. We wish her luck in her future endeavors. Her service will be missed."

• Budget discussion
• New contracting hire Marissa Marshall for fundraising support
• Quincy Morgan new contract until July
• Slack pricing
  • New cost for OSMUS (estimated at $10,500 a year)
  • Staff working through solutions
