I think my experience in the early years of HOT as well as my nonprofit experience makes me a helpful team member on the board. During this time of transition I am prepared to spend additional time in my board role to ensure the staff, membership and movement have input into the future structure of HOT which will allow us to accomplish the goals set for in our Living Strategy. |

I think Anni's experience working across NGOs, civil society orgs, academia and communities, and at local, regional and national levels, gives here a well-rounded insight into the challenges and opportunities that exist for HOT and the growth of the humanitarian open mapping movement. Throughout Anni's work, she has demonstrated an absolute focus on grassroots ownership and participation as a key driver of change and this continues today through her collaboration and support to the Shackdwellers Federation of Namibia, who are currently a granting partner of the East and Southern Africa Open Mapping Hub. Through her professional experience, including the PhD she is currently working on, she demonstrates a real understanding of OSM and how open data and tooling can be leveraged to solve local challenges. She is smart, critical, articulate and humble and I would love to see Anni on the board for HOT. | I am very excited about the direction HOT continues to moving in! For one, there is the establishment and investment in the Regional Hubs and the innovations in practice, technologies and training that continues to make community-owned and accessible mapping possible. HOT continues to hold a space that is context and impact focused within a dynamic ecosystem of data generators and users. Moreover, the increasingly visible inclusion across language, communities-of practice and identity speaks to a spirit that is rooted in the needs and aspirations of its members. Having been elected to HOT's Voting Membership very recently I was looking forward to getting more involved in actual mapping on the ground again. Thankfully there are so many amazing and dedicated members and staff on the ground who are committed to this everyday. | Mary Liwhu Marcellinus | Kingsley Chika CHUKWU / Uchechi Shirley ANADUAKA | Nigerian/Nigeria | We have known Mrs. Mary Liwhu Marcellinus for more than 2 years (Uchechi) and 5 years (Kingsley). She is a cartography lecturer at the Federal School of Surveying and an active member of the Nigerian Cartographic Association. She is also a member of the Nigerian Environmental Society, Women in Science in Developing Countries and the Head of the Cartographic Unit in the Federal School of Surveying Oyo. Mary also serves as a HOT voting member, Faculty Advisor of #Oyomappersteam of Unique Mappers Network of Nigeria and has contributed to projects in HOT task manager within and outside Nigeria. She is also currently the PRO in the Western part of Nigeria for Nigerian Cartographic Association and one of the members of the management team of Unique mappers network Nigeria. We have worked closely with her and have seen her passion and demonstration on governance and leadership. Based on these, we believe she is an excellent choice and will make a great addition to the HOT board. She will support HOT in pursuing its goals and objectives and contribute her quota to the policies that will foster the welfare and interest of the volunteers. | Reasons for running for the board

My name is Angela Oduor Lungati. I’m the Executive Director of Ushahidi and sit on the Board of Directors of Creative Commons. In addition, I am a voting member of the HOT OSM Community and the HOT East and Southern Africa Open Mapping Hub board.
I’ve been a member of HOT's community for many years and have collaborated with the organisation extensively over the last decade of my career. I’ve attended and spoken at State of the Map Africa, the HOT Summit, and FOSS4G events. I’ve co-hosted mapathons and collaborated on many projects with members of the OSM community in Kenya.

| Lamine N'diaye | Nathalie Sidibe | Senegal | Mohamet Lamine NDIAYE has been a voting member of the Openstreetmap humanitarian team for several years. He has been working with members of the Openstreetmap Senegal community to popularize collaborative mapping at the local level but also in the West African sub-region.
And being part of the board of directors is an opportunity for him to learn and contribute more within the HOT community, while allowing the French-speaking communities of Africa to have a person to represent them at the board level. |
I became a an active contributor of the OpenStreetMap community thanks to a mission of the Humaritarian Openstreetmap team in 2013. With the help of volunteer cartographers, we were able to set up the Openstreetmap Senegal community, then the Openstreetmap Senegal association - where I served as the General Secretary since 2018.
Since 2015, with the support of the French association Projet Espace OSM Francophone (ProjetEOF) and Les Libres Géographes (LLG), I have been able to participate in several capacity building missions in Francophone Africa. I have developed a set of skills and experiences that can be used on the board of HOT US Inc. In order to make HOT more inclusive and diverse, the participation of members of the African and Francophone community at the executive level is important. This will allow for the unique and specific aspects of the realities within these communities to be taken into account. In addition, there is still much to be done in terms of mapping actions as many spaces are currently missing on the map in these territories, hence the presence of people who can help understand the issues and particularity of these communities within HOT's board of directors makes sense. With HOT's desire to make the organization more inclusive and community-centric, I am sure that the human, technical and organizational knowledge that I have acquired over the years in the French-speaking community in Africa will be a valuable contribution to help the organization meet this challenge. |
