Import Data

Part of Organised Editing/Activities/AED mapping campaign in Poland is obtaining public data which is fragmented and inaccessible. About 2000 emails requesting data were send as of 2021-01-14, there were already about 150 responses.

Obtained data is a public information usable without restrictions.

Import Type

This is a gradual import. The dataset will be imported through a series of changesets over a period of months.

Only in cases where data is good enough to be added it will be added remotely. In case of imprecise location data it will be requiring a local verification.

For tricky cases notes may be opened asking local mappers to help identify where AED is located.

Data Preparation

The data will be manually reviewed and corrected before it is uploaded, using for example QGIS and https://openrefine.org/ .

Data Reduction & Simplification

Not applicable.

Tagging Plans

The source data will be in varied, weird and frustrating formats.

It will be processed manually with exact used tags depending on data availability.

Data Merge Workflow

Conflation will be resolved manually to avoid double tagging.

Mappers

Data will be added by experienced mappers such as System-users-3.svgsyntex (on osm, edits, contrib, heatmap, chngset com.) (User:Syntex on wiki) and System-users-3.svgAim311 (on osm, edits, contrib, heatmap, chngset com.)

Workflow

Step by step instructions:

  1. Open file obtained from local government
  2. Process/extract data
  3. Skip entries where location cannot be clearly obtained
    1. optionally open issues requesting local help (notes in Poland are not a black hole and are actively processed by local mappers. Notes should include "?" and explicitly ask StreetComplete mappers to include photo of AED location.
  4. Download the proper area
  5. Map aed
  6. Upload the changeset in OSM

In case of any problem with the import the changeset will be reverted using the JOSM reverter plugin or manually.
