The capacity:tents=* key indicates how many tents may be placed on a campsite or pitch. It is most often used on small, backcountry campsites. The restriction is either due to the size of the camp site or a constraint by the owner of the ground of the camp site.

In general, a 'tent' is a small tent for one to four persons. It definitively does not mean a big, military-style tent where up to 20 persons can sleep. A family tent (which is bigger) might be treated as two or even three tents.

Often, this is used in combination with maxstay=*. If there is a maximum amount of persons known, use capacity:persons=* as well.

How to map

Add the tag capacity:tents=* to a node or area which also has a main feature tag such as tourism=camp_site or tourism=guest_house.
