LMCT "Officialish" which is sourced from BikeLakeMichigan.com and the USBRS (U.S. Bicycle Route System) where the USBRS exists then USBRS takes precedence.
LMCT Alternate Routes which can be sourced from any source that seems appropriate.

Alternate routes in theory should be vetted by an organization. But there is none known at this time. BikeLakeMichigan appears to be a website maintained by an individual. There is a U.S. national bike network. It is incomplete at the moment. (See here -> https://www.adventurecycling.org/routes-and-maps/us-bicycle-route-system/national-corridor-plan/ )

The U.S. national bike network, USBRS, is documented in WikiProject_U.S._Bicycle_Route_System, which links to United_States/Bicycle_Networks. The System might be characterized as "incomplete" as you say above, but "under construction" is better, in my opinion. I sincerely doubt the wider OSM community (myself included, I developed/wrote much of what is in those pages and spoke on these topics at SOTM-US in Washington, DC in 2014) believes that the Lake Michigan Circle Tour Bicycle Route is properly tagged with network=ncn (as only USBRS routes and four carefully-consensus-reached "quasi-national" routes are). It might be network=rcn but I think wider consensus of this is required. It is not usually the case that "private" or "bike club" routes are entered into OSM. If such routes are either signed-on-the-ground ("quasi-private") or sponsored by a government (like a state bicycle route or even a county tourism board-sponsored) then, OK, those can be and are entered into OSM. I'm not sure about LMCT, though. I ask that you initially read those pages I've linked above and then please change the network tag on this route to rcn. The route might also eventually be removed from OSM if it is determined that it isn't signed or otherwise government-sponsored. OSM isn't a map database for "good bike rides," there are other mapping projects (like RideWithGPS) for that. You do link these resources above, though I don't know if you have fully absorbed them, else you wouldn't have entered this as a national route. This version of the circle bike tour uses the national routes where they are close enough.

Where there are unentered sections of the national network then LMCT relations are created following BikeLakeMichigan dot com route.

Eventually alternate LMCT sections will be added where the routes do not match.

There is an additional route for the alternates. It contains segments known today (six? seven?) though there may or emerge more. Stevea (talk) 02:35, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

Where the national route relations extend beyond what is needed for the LMCT then the National route is somewhat arbitrarily sub-divided at the divergent points with the new sub-division relations added to the existing national relation in a parent/child relation manner.

Note by stevea: These de-constructed USBR relations were reconstructued to their presently-known (mid-2019) data (the newer relation was deleted, the older relation "refurbished fully"). The remainder of this section is in reference to the older (now deleted) relations which are superceded by two relations, a regional route for Lake Michigan via bicycle and its alternate routes of a similar name. I suppose it is fair to say that OSM would be happy to accept additional data for additional routes around additional Great Lakes. The existing two LMCT routes can serve as a model for other Lake bicycle tours, though correction to / improvement of existing routes is appreciated.
