Leeuwarder Monumentale en Gedenkwaardige Bomen Dataset
The municipal government of the Dutch city of Leeuwarden maintains a database of monumental and commemorative trees within the municipality.

Trees imported into OpenStreetMap from this dataset are tagged with the following source-tag:

The current upstream dataset is from 2015. In the course of 2019 an update is expected.

Data
The dataset contains the species of each tree, location, status, and planting date. Based on these the following OSM tags are extracted:
- genus=*, always present
- species=*, present if known
- taxon=*, present for trees that are a cultivar
- start_date=*, year of planting
- leaf_type=*, deduced from species
- leaf_cycle=*, deduced from species
- denotation=natural_monument, assigned to monumental trees
- natural=tree, obviously
- source=Monumentale en Gedenkbomen dataset gemeente Leeuwarden
- ref:lwdtrees=*, reference code from the upstream dataset
- source:date=*, date the dataset was published

The data is in the public domain.
Usage
Trees from this dataset are copied over into OpenStreetMap by local mappers to augment their changesets only after confirming the presence of the trees. No automated import is performed.
