Introduction

NextBillion.AI is an AI tech startup focused on geospatial domain. Our goal is to build clean data sets and contribute to the OpenStreetMap community. We are using RapID and JOSM to improve the map data majorly across India and a few parts in Africa, Australia, Indonesia, Pakistan, UAE, and USA.

Road Geometry Scope

Review existing geometry and check the correctness of the data and make necessary improvements as listed below

• Digitize missing roads
• Resolve Road Connectivity Issues
• Improve Road Classification
• Resolve Road Alignment Issues
• Review validations on Attributes / Tags

Review and map pedestrian route in Cambridge,MA

To improve pedestrian route coverage and enhance walking directions and provide best possible navigation by validating the below attributes

• sidewalks
• foot way
• crossings
• steps
• cycleway (only when shared with footway)

Guidelines

We will follow OSM guidelines as per wiki and also consider local inputs.

Tools

Team will use RapID and JOSM tools to perform edits and also fix validation errors flagged

• Street imageries like OSC, Mapillary etc.

Process Flow

Pre-Analysis will be performed in random areas across the city, which the team would be reviewing In the pre-analysis the best suitable imagery is decided along with any challenges observed on the existing road network Basis observations, information will be passed to mappers/community through GitHub Local community suggestions will be considered.

Changeset Comments

The team will provide appropriate changeset comments that are in compliance with OSM changeset guidelines

Error Detection

We would use various QA tools, JOSM validation warnings and OSM inspector to validate the edits performed. To analyse the detailed history of the segments, we will use the below tools:

• OSM cha
• OSM Analytics
• OSM achavi
