This page is for discussion of the import dataset of buildings in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, made ​​available on this page by the Municipal Urban Development (Secretaria Municipal de Desenvolvimento Urbano).

  1. First request sent in the e-SIC system at 27/08/14

The Data (initial proposal)

Original data (CC-by-zero):

  1. Mapa Digital da Cidade de São Paulo

Create a mirror for all source data:

  1. Save a copy of all original data to public mirror. (coming soon)
  2. Convert all shapefiles to osm format. (coming soon)
    1. Ony the tag height will remain.
  3. Save all osm files to a different directory on mirror. (coming soon)

How edit the data:

  1. Setup a OSM Task Manager for Brazilian projects.
  2. Create a task for each city district.
  3. Create a description for each task with a link to a osm file from that district.

  1. Publicize and discuss at talk-br mailing list
  2. Publicize and discuss at OpenStreetMap Forum (users: Brazil) (ok)
  3. Publicize and discuss at imports mailing list
  4. Make reference at Import/Catalogue
  5. Make reference at Contributors
  6. Prepare the data
  7. Form a group of volunteers.
  8. Create import accounts
  9. Define a hastag to this import : #pmsp-import #import-pmsp #pmsp-import-buildings
  10. Source of data:
    1. PMSP and Bing
    2. PMSP and DigitalGlobe Standard
    3. PMSP and DigitalGlobe Premium
  11. Setup a OSM Tasking Manager website
  12. Announce the importation of a neighborhood or the preparations in the telegram: https://t.me/osmsp
  13. Import
    1. Verify that all highways of selected area have their names using http://qa.poole.ch/.
    2. Check the alignment of the street with the official PMSP data.
    3. Keep tags from buildings already mapped if are correct.
    4. Keep history of buildings already mapped.
    5. Correct wrong tags.
    6. Add highway name to buildings ????

Know problems

  • 2018-08-31: Many buildings with the warning "crossing buildings" and "duplicate nodes" in the neighborhoods of the south of the city.The automatic forms of JOSM correction end up generating other warnings visible only with the log at the informational level.After the import I am doing the manual correction, a bit every day.
  • I was using my user account (Bonix_Mapper) to import rather than another dedicated user. Now my import account is: Bonix-Importer (since 09/01/2017)
  • Late edition on Import/Guidelines informing about this import (09/03/2017).
  • Late entry on import mail list (09/03/2017).
Neighborhood Volunteer(s) Description
Sé Bonix_Mapper Catedral da Sé: The building has been modeled in 3D by another user. I have not got in touch with this user to decide if left as is or use the official data.
Sé Bonix_Mapper Mercado Municipal: I left as it is because I still can not redo without neglecting the work of the previous user.
