AAA Carolinas

About

This project intends to add AAA Carolinas retail locations to OSM. AAA Carolinas is a client of Placeable and this is Placeable's initial test run, with the hope additional client data will be added to OSM.

Goals

The goal is to add and maintain AAA Carolinas retail locations in North and South Carolina in the United States.

Schedule

Generally, the data is expected to be updated monthly, usually in the first week of the month.

OSM Data Files

The client is the primary data source. That data is the source for both data distributed to third parties as well as the website on their domain.

Link to your source data files that you have prepared for the import - e.g. the .osm files you have derived from the data sources.

Import Type

The import is a recurring monthly or bi-monthly import with location removal and updates. Initially, the process will use a generated .osm file loaded through JOSM and inspected manually.

Ideally the process would be incorporated into the Placeable data location tool and import using the API. The tool already detects conflation in other instances online (Bing, Google, etc.) that are usually merged manually. There is also a manual process of to remove or tag closed locations.

The data will only contains nodes for the business locations.

Tagging Plans

The nodes will likely include one or more of the following tags: name, addr:housenumber, addr:street, addr:suite, addr:city, addr:state, addr:country, addr:postcode, phone, fax, opening_hours, website, brand, facebook, google_plus, twitter. AAA Carolinas may have three different location types in one location including office= insurance, shop=car_repair and shop=travel_agency.

Changeset Tags

Nodes will be tagged with created_by=placeable and bot=yes . (Question - when generating a new dataset how is a changeset number created?)
