Property talk:P5

Is this property intended to show where keys/tags are used or where they should be used? This would e.g. make a difference when there are still many instances of a tag around, but the community agreed that the tags should no longer be used. Depending on which one it is, the label or the description should be worded differently. The label currently suggests the former case, the description the latter case. --Floscher (talk) 08:52, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

@Floscher: it should have the same meaning as when used in the description templates. I think it is the SHOULD, because for the actual stats people can see tag info. --Yurik (talk) 15:14, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

@Floscher: I also created ERROR: Invalid ID, for the same meaning (reversed). We need better names for them. Ideas:

• use on, don't use on
• allowed on, prohibited on
• for elements, not for elements

@Yurik: I think something like "intended for these elements" or "meant for use on" would be good. I'm not sure if we really need the inverse property, since if something is not listed in ERROR: Invalid ID, it would be clear that it is not recommended to use on that element type. --Floscher (talk) 09:31, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

@Floscher:, we need inverse property because current templates show these values as 3-state -- allowed, disallowed, and unknown. Our first step is migrating, so we shouldn't be making process changes just yet. Once migrated, I'm all for removing that property -- it will be very easy to do with a bot, without affecting any other properties. Also, FYI, I began adding tags too, and soon i will import other frequent properties, like "see also", "implies", etc. Technically we don't have to copy them - some things could stay as template parameters, but it will be less useful in the future. --Yurik (talk) 20:52, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
