Proposal talk:3D shop
Tag value
The value "3D-shop" is misleading. Literally it means "3-dimensions-shop".
Your proposal is about selling specialised computing/manufacturing supplies, that should be self-explanatory in the tag. Otherwise somebody could assume 3D-movies or 3D-puzzles etc. --Polarbear w (talk) 19:55, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
- I agree. Also repeating shop does not add anything. IMHO we should also differentiate between shops selling machines and supplies versus shops that offer 3D printing/prototyping as a service. --Dieterdreist (talk) 20:40, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
- Yup. What about shop=3d_printers and shop=3d_printing ? --Polarbear w (talk) 21:33, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Service or store?
This proposal starts with the description:
A 3D printing shop is a place where they offer the service of 3D printing to the general public, or which sell 3D printers, service them, or sell spare components or consumables.
Don't you think that a service and a store are two completely different places from the point of view of an end-user? Imagine that you'd like to have your model printed, but instead of that, you'll be directed to a place that sells filament and spare parts. And otherwise. I'd be completely frustrated in a similar situation. These two kinds of business should be tagged separately. It seems logical that schemes should be independent because there are businesses, where 3D printing or 3D printing supply sales are both main and additional features. So, to summarize that: don't make a mistake that will have long-term consequences, instead of that, make two different tags for printing service and printing hardware/supply store. --BushmanK (talk) 18:58, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
Commercial only?
How about non-commercial 3d printing? Think on hackerspace=* or coworking_space=* that share such equipment? --!i! 21:03, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
- We already have a general leisure=hackerspace for places like that. However, these places are quite diverse in terms of available equipment, so it could make a certain sense to include a key or tag in this proposal that will help to indicate if particular place provides 3D printing service. --BushmanK (talk) 21:50, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
