What about pawn shops? More or less it could fit under this too or it would need special tag/symbol. Pecisk 11:43, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Not at all. Pawn shops exchange cash for goods. There is no need to repay the cash unless you want the item back. Payday loan centers do not do this; they provide unsecured loans with no collateral but high interest rates. Generally these rates are basis weekly or monthly as opposed to bank loans which are basis annually. (This has been controversial as it is alleged people do not know the difference, and compare a 5% weekly-rate payday loan with a 5% annual-rate bank loan, when in fact after a year outstanding, the rate in that case would be more like 260% APR [they are not compounded].) Often they also cash third-party checks and provide other for-fee financial services such as money orders. So pawn shop is a very poor fit. Honestly, amenity=bank would fit better (but not well at all). - KTyler 10:58, 7 June 2012 (BST)
