Highway value in is_sidepath:of
Is there a particular reason why the street's highway value is given as is_sidepath:of=... instead is_sidepath:of:highway? This is different from the structure of the other keys and makes it seem as if it's somehow of special importance. (Whereas in practice, there is no single most important attribute to copy over, and name or ref probably have more common use cases.) --Tordanik 15:26, 2 December 2022 (UTC)
- That is a good point. This tagging has been growing for a few years, but I don't think that should stop us from improving it in case of doubt. However, I'm not sure yet whether these additional attributes are a good idea at all. --Supaplex030 (talk) 11:18, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
Hello, I am quite interested in this proposal as sidewalks have been mapped separately in Toronto but without this level of detail, leading to quite bad pedestrian routing. I understand these tags are now suggested in Verkehrswende-Meetup/Gehwege and many/most uses are in Germany. It might be beneficial to mention this in the proposal, and share any experiences gained: was routing improved? was instructions display improved in any routers? were there any problems encountered in practice? --Jarek Piórkowski (talk) 17:34, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
