All these ways should be tagged piste:type=nordic/downhill/..., why a new tag? Furthermore, how do you know when tagging in winter that there is nothing under in summer ? --Yvecai 22:07, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- piste:type is additional tag for existing highway=*. But what highway value to use if there is no highway after snow melts? All other higway types but highway=piste will appear once snow melts. If there is some other road under the snow and a mapper will find it out when snow melts, he will uptade the tag. --*Martin* (talk) 19:51, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Why does there need to be any highway tag when there is no underlying highway? There is nothing to drive on in summer and also there is even no physical object/feature visible in summer (except maybe a meadow/grass patch which is tagged as a separate area object). It seems piste:type would be enough to make the way indicate what it is (a piste in winter) and also make it not tag-less (as to not trigger untagged-way warnings).
