Approved features/Tag:place=island

We have place=hamlet,village,town,city and so on, but we do not have something to describe islands. I am mainly thinking of small coastal or river islands which may have a small settlement or a farm; for them, the island name usually takes the place of the hamlet or village name. I suggest introducing place=island used in the same fashion as the aforementioned values are used now. --Woodpeck 17:02, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Opinion

• I have been using this already for smaller riverine, estuary and off-shore islands so obviously I agree. Now I am in the Phillipines with a claimed 7,107 islands so this would be a Good Thing to have. MikeCollinson 13:39, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

• The Finnish archipelago has around 40.000 island so this would be nice to use there.
