Talk:Approved features
Purpose of this page?
I'm not quite sure what the purpose of listing successful old proposed features is. Dmgroom 00:36, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes. User:Richard also wrote on the page "these should be on the Map Features page where mappers might expect to find them, not just in a rather bizarre cul-de-sac of a page principally used by people who vote on tags."
- So it looks like this page is following the same table column format as Proposed Features, including voting details such as the start/end dates. So basically this page is where rows from the table get dumped, after the voting has ended. That is... as far as I can make out
- It kind of makes sense from a voting organisation point-of-view, but the problem is that "Map Features" is the all-important list everyone is referring to, and this page title (and purpose of the page) might get confused with it. I'll try to edit the top paragraph to clarify that. -- Harry Wood 14:15, 28 August 2007 (BST)
- yes this is a dumping page for proposed features. After a feature is voted on it should follow the Post-vote_clean-up as stated on the proposal page and the top of the accepted feature page. This prosses keeps the proposals intact and keeps the actual tag pages uncluttered.--Nickvet419 00:11, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- In my opinion keeping this page up-to-date is unnecessary effort. Approved features should be on map features anyway, the dates are in the template on the proposal page and if someone is really interested in a list of approved features, there's Category:Proposals with "Approved" status. Proposals currently require too much manual work anyway. --Tordanik 11:00, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- as of right now, there are old proposals that have been lost due to earlier standards. Most these proposals are located on this list and need to be restored to todays standards. Updating this list isn't on top priority as restoring the old proposals.--Nickvet419 11:10, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- This also a list you want to follow to be on the edge of what new map features is coming. --Kslotte 18:36, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Why templates and not just a table?
Approved, Rejected and Proposed features pages are the three pages with "too many expensive parser function calls". Looking at the source page it seems to be because each table row is done as a template. Are there any advantages to this? Surely it is as easy to cut and paste a table row from the Proposed page to here as it would be a template call? User:EdLoach 09:00, 24 June 2009
- This has been fixed by archiving by year. --Kslotte 18:34, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Redirect
As this page was no longer updated, I replaced it with a redirect to the respective category. If you want to search for the old content: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Approved_features&oldid=838894. --Andi 01:23, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
