  • At the moment you have Ok in the top right which closes the app. Ideally this should be an X that just minimises/sends to background. Either add a Quit to the main screen or add a menu Steevc 13:13, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  • In the absence of a Tab "Main (Menu)" I would like the quit-button to be at the bottom of the tab "GPS Data", perhaps with the text "Quit Programm" or quit application. This because on the top the page is the similar "Start Receiver". It would be nice, like Steevc says, to use the OK for minimizing. This because then you can minimize the program to the background and lock the screen. This would be useful if you carry the PDA in the pocket while tracking, e. g. while biking. • It would be nice to be able to drive everything from the map screen, so that if you see that you will be driving down a new road you can hit a button and tracing will start, to a file with a system-created name e.g. with date and time. Perhaps another button could create a waypoint. The buttons should probably be configurable. This would make it viable to map whilst driving without having to take your eye off the road for very long Steevc 13:13, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  • As there is already a voice activated WayPoint Recorder incorporated for PDAs with that facility, perhaps consider voice activated commands for 'Save File', Start/Stop Trace'.--LesleyB 13:04, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  • 'Driving everything from the map screen . . .': Do you not think that it's a little "dangerous", keep looking at the screen (even if it's only for a second or two) to see if you are turning into streets that haven't been mapped and then hitting buttons to start recording, etc. On my PDA, the buttons are so small and close together you have to focus on them to make sure you've got the right one! If you're focussed on that, then you're not focussed on actually driving. I would imagine it's more risky than using a mobile phone whilst driving.
    • In those circumstances, better to make a mental note of the area that needs completing then plan a day out and take a navigator who can do the recording of waypoints, etc. Much safer (in my opinion). I’ve been using BSGPSPDA for detailed footwork, etc. as having everything in one neat hand-held device means I don't have to carry too much other equipment but I find that for driving, I use my old laptop loaded with BSGPS as it’s much easier to have another person with me to input all the necessary details thus leaving me free to concentrate on the hazards of driving. --LesleyB 08:37, 20 September 2007 (BST)
      • Ideally I would have a second person in the car drive the software, but that's not always the case. I was thinking more that I would like to be able to do things like starting a trace when I'm stopped at traffic lights by just pressing a button.         • Point taken. I have broached the subject of starting a trace, saving a file, etc. with voice activation but I reckon I might be getting into the realms of 'Star Trek'.   • Guys. How about:- If the MAP tab is showing and the user presses the accept/enter button (usually in the center of the up/down/left/right) it automatically opens a Track file names yyyymmddhhss. A simple mod! LesleyB - Scotty I most certain am not and voice recognision is probably light years away for my programming abilities on a PDA. (this is my first PDA app!!!)     • This sounds good. If it's a simple mod, we can test it to see how we get on with it. I'm assuming that hitting the accept/enter button again would stop/close the track file.       • Having downloaded the latest version with the start/stop track log button mod and re-positioned the PDA on the dash, I've given the whole package a good testing today and I'm impressed. I can start/stop a track log at any time and zoom to any level without losing any of the data. When I next connect the PDA to the internet, it's a straightforward process to download any missing tiles. --LesleyB 22:49, 29 September 2007 (BST)

• A 'Refresh All Tiles' similar to the facility on BSGPS would be handy so that I can get the most up-to-date information before planning or setting out on a mapping trip. In other words, I'll be able to check if details have been added to an area since I last uploaded to OSM. There's nothing worse than spending a shedful of time either driving or walking a route only to find that it's been done since the last time I checked the on-line map. --LesleyB 07:25, 1 October 2007 (BST)
• It would probably be more userfriendly if there were an option to select which directory the tiles are stored in. Currently seems to be fixed as \SD card\OSM\OSMarender\zoom level\... This makes it hard to use BSGPSPDA at the same time as OSMtracker. OSMtracker currently needs a "tiles" before zoomlevel. I would prefer if both of you could use the same directory, or at least be configurable enough to use the same directory. The Map folder structure is a mirror of the way it is held by OSM, so maybe it would be better if OSMtracker complied. • To mark specific points during tracing, it would be handy to have some shortcuts or buttons. E.g. for: postbox, telephone, signal, crossing, bus stop, speed limits etc. These would simply create a waypoint. Other shortcuts would add a waypoint with predefined text (the type of the waypoint) but ask for additional information, e.g. the name of the waypoint. These waypoints would be for bank, supermarket, fuel. This would allow me to map much faster. The shortcuts and buttons (position, name, predefined text, icon file) should be easy to modify (with a config file) to allow user/language specific addjustments.--Toralf 13:16, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
• It would be cool if you could scroll around on the map screen, so that you could download tiles of where you intend to go while you're still at home and can download via activesync, even if you don't know the coord's and no gpx tracks etc. Thanks! This feature is available in the laptop/desktop version BSGPS(Windows Users) even if you don't have a GPS receiver attached.. Using that program you can "visit" areas and get the missing tiles and then transfer them to the PDA. Issues

• On my MIO P550, using a SirfStar3 and running WM5, all I'm getting is the error message "Garbage" when I try to turn on the GPS receiver, using the same settings IGO works with: NMEA/COM2/4800Baud. Even worse, the error message comes back over and over, so I can't close the program and have to use the Task Manager to kill it.
• This may be an obvious one and I'm being dumb, but why do the images i download direct into BSGPSPDA seem to be way out of date compared to either mapnik or osmarenderer on the main map page? I'm talking a couple of weeks at least! Thanks, Daveemtb 08:58, 12 December 2007 (UTC). Mapnik tiles a supposed to be re-rendered once a week on Wednesdays. In my experience this does not happen sometimes. Osmarender Tile get update daily. Your tiles are only good for the day you downloaded them as there is not a facility in the PDA version to refresh all existing tiles(as there is in the laptop/desktop version BSGPS). The tiles are donwloaded from the OSM servers so if they are out of date there is little I can do about it.--bullstreetboy 13:23, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
• V2.0.4 12/12/07 I get frequent crashes when I use the D pad on my iPAQ h2210. I have a vague recollection that the h2210 uses a slightly non-standard hardware implementation of the d-pad, would it be possible to put some other zoom control into the map page, eg +/- buttons so I can work around this? • Map position lagging behind actual positions. My Acer n35 seems to not be able to handle all the NMEA data. This can cause a considerable lag. Using GPSGate it is possible to filter the data to reduce the problem. The app requires $GPRMC, $GPGSV, $GPGSA and $GPGGA, but the latter three can be filtered to only every few seconds.     • On all the versions I've used to date, I don't recall having had any instances of the map delay referred to by steevc. I'm using a Fujitsu PocketLOOX N500 with integrated GPS, Microsoft Pocket PC OS version 5.1.1702 and I'm running the latest version of BSGPSPDA: 1.9.5 --LesleyB 19:00, 6 October 2007 (BST)
• (v. 1.7.0) I could not uninstall the program with ActiveSync. Without uninstall I could not install a newer version of BSGPSPDA. Is this fixed in newer version? I just copy the install cab file to My Documents on the PDA and double tap it. • ( v 1.9.7) thx for the new version, but there are still problems with the connection speed 57600 Baud. The NMEA Log is empty. (on my N560 it's COM4/57600 by default) workaround: try to reprogramm the internal GPS receiver to 9600 baud and you'll get data. If someone has the same problem, use SirfTech.
