Multiple addresses
I did not see any contact information or a chicago forum, but I have a question about mapping. What is the convention for corner buildings with multiple addresses? I saw that for example in Paris, every entrance to a building has its own node with its own address. However, in Chicago the address numbers are assigned to buildings already, so moving all these numbers to their own nodes seems a lot of extra work. --Boeleman81
- in general: You might wait forever for an answer here, that may not really be the best place. https://help.openstreetmap.org/ has many questions already answered, suitable for a bit more generalized (you can take those buildings in Chicago as an example) questions (not specific issues). The page Contact lists other means of contact/discussion.
- However, regarding your question (answering here since it may be somehow special to Chicago): I found this close one: sites-and-buildings-with-multiple-entrances-having-different-address-info. Do different parts of these buildings have different housenumbers? Then I think those buildings are best changed to the address on nodes scheme. - Thank you very much for your reply. The reason I decided to ask it here is that I have seen various pages with questions about multiple addresses, and different cities seem to have different approaches (splitting buildings, entrance nodes, addr2 tags). Someone in Chicago must have put in a lot of work putting all the numbers on the buildings, and I did not want to upset anyone by changing it using the wrong convention. I guess I'll use the address on node convention, as you suggested, because different entrances of large buildings can be on different streets here. --Boeleman81 (talk) 00:46, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
