Trail heads
I've been looking for a way to tag trail heads, a place to park and access a trail. Is there such a way to tag it and I've missed it? If there is none, there should be one created. — Val42 17:21, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Color
Many trails in the US are blazed in a particular color (e.g. The Appalachian Trail has white markers on trees and rocks). Any markup of trails should have a way of describing what markings the hikers will see while on the trail. Renderers should be able to decide how to use this (maybe changing the color of the trace on the map). Spirko 14:19, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
complicated
there should be less complicated way to express this, because otherwise trail with say 15 guideposts will consist of nearly 50 relations. Common way to describe the time/distance on trails is to give this information from the trail start. All other info can be derived as difference and it reduces number of relations needed by square root (in the above example we would need 15 relations)
- Indeed - no-one actually follows the suggestions on this page. For example, taginfo currently finds only one guidepost relation. SomeoneElse (talk) 23:21, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
