EIA 860 data
In the US, one good (official) use of power plants is the EIA Form 860 reports (which are public domain). They describe each generator at a plant with multiple fields related to our plant:source=* & plant:method=* tags. At Power generation/United States of America I'm working on figuring out how best to associate them. Happy for help! JesseFW (talk) 22:31, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @JesseFW: this is really valuable knowledge you provide here, thank you. If I understand you correctly, Form 860 describe each generator, corresponding to power=generator right? This would be ok to complete all generator:source=*, generator:method=*, generator:type=*, plant:source=* and plant:method=* at the same time. Despite generators aren't rendered on OpenInfraMap (yet), it's good to gather features waiting for this moment. Best regards Fanfouer (talk) 22:59, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
- Yep! The Form 860 data also has information about the plants as a whole (including address, operator, etc), and it's the power=plants that I'm focusing on for now (although the mapping should work for both). Generators are actually included in OpenInfraMap's stats pages now, just not on the map (although the underlying buildings generally are visible, but not highlighted).
