Talk:Key:tenant
Use of tag does not match meaning of "tenant" in British English
A "tenant" is a person or company who rents land or property from a landlord (so they are not the owner).
https://www.lexico.com/definition/tenant - 1A person who occupies land or property rented from a landlord. 1.1 (Law) A person in possession of real property by any right or title.
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/tenant - "a person who pays rent for the use of land or a building"
So the use of this tag does not match the meaning of the term in English. --Jeisenbe (talk) 03:27, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
Why not use owner=* or operator=*?
I don't see how this tag could be correct and verifiable. Perhaps "tenant" is being used to mean "owner of a franchise?" In that case owner=* could be used if it is verifiable, but usually this would also be the operator=*. --Jeisenbe (talk) 03:27, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
