Talk:Pennsylvania/Public Lands
Not all state-owned lands are nature reserves or protected areas
The advice on this page is not always correct. Not all lands owned by the state are protected. Many government buidings in the capital are owned by the State but they are not a leisure=nature_reserve nor a boundary=protected_area feature.
I'm also skeptical about tagging state forests as leisure=nature_reserve. Aren't these managed for forestry rather than for recreation and conservation? At least that's the case with State forests over here in Oregon. --Jeisenbe (talk) 07:41, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
I see your point about government buildings not being described by those tags, but the reason for creating this page was only to address standard tagging of public lands that can be described by boundaries. Maybe this page can be expanded in the future to include tagging for these features.
In PA, state forests are managed for both conservation and recreation. They are completely open to hiking and dispersed camping as far as I'm aware. --Bhietsch(talk) 08:59, 30 December 2020 (EST)
