Talk:Quick History Service
Issues to be decided
I would like to see a category "issues to be decided / open questions" in the main part
The fact that brought this up to my mind are coastlines like this one:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/3751846/history
see at bottom
created_by = r_coastlines
natural = coastline
source = PGS
or some other example from osm directly:
<node id="18597119" version="1" timestamp="2006-10-19T13:29:31Z" changeset="135225" lat="43.303849" lon="-77.750422">
<tag k="created_by" v="r_coastlines"/>
<tag k="source" v="PGS"/>
</node>
There is no user given, but the source seem to be "open".
A lot of this data show aup in red, see eg.

Possible "Bot" Changesets
User: ulfl
- Many changesets by User ulfl seem to be computer generated bugfixes. Contacted him asking for help in separating these from his "human" contribution but no reply so far. --Frederik Ramm 22:23, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
User: John Smith
JohnSmith did a few very large changesets which are suspected to be automated tag changes and therefore trivial:

Please note: this table above lists changesets on http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/JohnSmith/edits until page 500 (changeset 1418861 on June 04, 2009 07:30) with a more or less global BBOX. There are some changesets like 5171128 (achavi, OSMLab) (maxspeed=50 added to highway=residential, source: default maxspeed) which seem to be automatic changes as well, but these are limited to Australia. They could be investigated as well.
Stupid dupe node removal changesets
http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/johnsdixon/edits As much as I'd like these to be reverted, there would be way too much collateral damage. --NE2 20:11, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
- Don't worry. That guy accepted about 1 month ago. ;) -- rickmastfan67 12:56, 27 March 2012 (BST)
"Importing EPA hazard sites"
Most of these have been deleted, but some have been repurposed, e.g. http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/586930968/history --NE2 16:12, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Another User that did Abbreviation Expansion
I've just noticed another user besides balrog-kun that did several Abbreviation Expansions here in the USA who declined the CT. The user is Rosscoe. Here's an example changeset that he did: 5128573 (achavi, OSMLab). He's done at least 20+ such changesets in the past that just expanded the street type (Hwy > Highway; St > Street; Rd > Road; etc). I don't think they are bot edits, but I'm not 100% sure on this since some of the streets are just so randomly changed, but who knows.
Can somebody please comment on this if you know if this was a bot edit or not?
Still, this decliner's account might be worth a second look to find out how many of these "Replace Abbreviations" changesets he did, and which ones could be considered as "clean". -- rickmastfan67 08:39, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- This user has a total of 1,100 changesets that have a comment with the word "abbreviation" in them. However 580 of the changesets only have 5 or fewer objects in them. Others are obviously combined with other mapping activities that are not trivial. It's almost as if this user used "remove abbreviations" as a default changeset comment for a while... it may be more work than it is worth to filter through them all. Here are 13 changesets that have over 300 objects in them if someone wants to investigate. ToeBee 10:00, 26 March 2012 (BST)

- I just took a quick look at the changesets you posted above, and all of them are normal mapping in Australia. -- rickmastfan67 10:17, 26 March 2012 (BST)
- I just took a more in depth look and as far as I can tell, he did the US changing of abbreviations on July 3rd and 4th of 2010. I'm going to go make a list of those changesets to be added to the main page. -- rickmastfan67 10:37, 26 March 2012 (BST)
- Alright, I've isolated all of his US abbreviation edits. I didn't do all of the ones that are clean in Australia, but there are a few intertwined in with the US ones I posted (I made sure every change set was abbreviation expansion ONLY and no normal mapping in them). Here's the list of the mostly US edits. -- rickmastfan67 15:14, 26 March 2012 (BST)

This user did a lot of copy-paste edits to appear as the creator of objects. He first copied a bunch of objects, deleted them and re-uploaded them again as v1 created by him. This should be a list of pairwise copy-delete-paste changesets.
