Merge with barrier=wedge
@Goldfndr: Thanks for linking this article to barrier=wedge; I had no idea about barrier=foldable_pie_slice despite looking quite thoroughly for something like it. Polyglot, what do you think of standardizing on barrier=wedge? It seems like "wedge barrier" is the most common name for the device in English. "Foldable pie slice" is an evocative term, but outside of OSM, it only refers to a slice of New York pizza that you're supposed to fold before eating, so I don't think anyone will be able to discover the tag easily. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 16:41, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
- Is there a tangible difference between the two? The barrierwedge=* page appears to show two types of construction: a type that is a segment (approx. 1/8th to 1/6th) of a circle that pivots at the point and presumably needs a significant trench underneath and a type that appears to be "telescopic" and consist of several thinner sections that fit inside each other but expand to approximately the same extent. I assume the advantage of the later type is that they need a much shallower hole? Is this page meant for just one of those two options, or do we have a pure synonym here? If we want to distinguish the two constructions in the barrier=wedge page I think I think it should be a subtype of some sort so that they can get the same top level tag if they're only seen from a distance. --InsertUser (talk) 23:36, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
