Why not playground=swing + adult=yes?

The pages leisure=playground and playground=swing mention the tag playground=swing is used for different kinds of swingsets, including those for infants, young children, and older children or possibly adults: "A swing or swing-set. For baby-friendly swings, e.g. bucket swings, use baby=yes/no". So why not use adult=yes/no with that tag?

Are there any physical or practical characteristics of village swings which make them incompatible with the existing, common tag playground=swing? --Jeisenbe (talk) 21:07, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

I started out tagging these with playground=swing + max_age=99. But after using it a few times, it started bugging me.

• The word "playground" is strongly associated with children, so pairing it with adult=yes seems wrong. Although maybe it's just because I'm new to OSM tagging schemes.
• They don't really exist at playground sites, which the playground= key suggests ("The key playground=* describes devices and installations on a playground").

I asked for advice in Telegram OSM chatroom and we came up with leisure=village_swing, man_made=village_swing as alternatives. The leisure= key is mostly associated with adult activities so seemed fitting. Intgr (talk) 23:40, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

OK, I agree that leisure=playground would not be appropriate, since that tag is defined: "Marks a children's playground, playpark, or play area. These are outdoor (sometimes indoor) areas specifically designed for children to play." --Jeisenbe (talk) 16:49, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

But I'll gladly entertain ideas to make the tagging scheme more general. Now that you got me thinking, it would be also possible to tag them as leisure=swing + swing:type=village_swing or similar. But I'd like to see a stronger consensus before I start changing them.

There are also swings used for the sport of  Kiiking.

In my recent research I also came upon traditional swings from Thailand: [1] (these don't look permanent) and another that looks like a mini-ferris-wheel [2], File:Meayunan.jpg (not sure if it can be called a swing). Intgr (talk) 17:58, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
