Template:Talk user/doc

From OpenStreetMap Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This template is intended to be placed at the top of an editor's User talk page to display a header identifying it as such. New wiki members are encouraged to use it to create their own user talk page upon joining, so that others who may need to communicate with them are not put in the position of creating another user's page for them.

Usage

This template can be called without any parameters in most instances as simply {{Talk user}}. In the event one wishes the links to the associated subject space page and create a new topic links to target a different user, provide their username as the value to the |username= parameter, as in {{Talk user|username=ThisOtherUser}}.

Previously this template was unable to process usernames with spaces or special characters in them and required users to URL/percent-encode them when supplied as parameter values. That deficiency has since been corrected and usernames may now be provided to it as-is.
