Is it number of registered accounts? Or something else? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 23:02, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Apparently, it's indeed the number of registered accounts. Which arguably means that some of the statements the template is used for, such as "there are X contributors who make OpenStreetMap possible", are wrong or at least misleading. Personally, I prefer to mention the number of accounts with at least one changeset (or, failing that, those who are most recent editor of at least one element in the database) when I communicate publicly. --Tordanik 16:06, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- This is the number of users, see Stats#In summary. maro21 20:10, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- According to the documentation it is exactly the first figure provided by https://www.openstreetmap.org/stats/data_stats.html. @Mateusz Konieczny: your change changed exactly one page, Template:Contributors/count. The sentence itself is not shown on any page, only the part that is inside
<onlyinclude>
. You can try that out at Special:ExpandTemplates for instance. The template is often used inside sentences, the rest of the sentence is just displayed on the templates page to understand the statement. --Tigerfell (Let's talk) 22:20, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
