Notes:

  1. Bicycles should only use roads when there is no available adjacent cycling infrastructure.
  2. Heavy vehicles (>5t) and tractors are only allowed for goods loading/unloading or work
  3. Long buses (>6m) are only allowed for passenger boarding/unboarding
  4. Bicycles and pedestrians have priority in living zones.
  5. Motor vehicles are not explicitly forbidden to travel on forest and agricultural roads, however many tracks in Latvia are drawn for other purposes, such as cutlines or auxiliary property access. Without track grading, surface/smoothness and explicit access, it may be impossible to distinguish. For routing, it should be much safer to assume that these roads shouldn't be used as pass-through, rather for destination only.
  6. Bicycles are not explicitly forbidden to travel along non-road-adjacent pedestrian infrastructure, which isn't explicitly signed otherwise.
  7. Bicycles are not permitted on designated, explicitly-signed footways. foot=designated implies a footway marked this way. Dismounted always implicitly allowed.
  8. Bicycles are permitted to travel on sidewalks if driving on the road is impossible, dangerous or obstructed due to weather, intense traffic or road condition, which overall is very broad, subjective and thus lenient. Pedestrians have priority. Dismounted always implicitly allowed.
  9. Bicycles are allowed to use crossings mounted, both explicitly-signed pedestrian crossings and unmarked "opposite sidewalk connecting" crossings, but must observe additional speed and safety restrictions.
