I am Lasith Niroshan, an active contributor to OpenStreetMap since 2018. I have been passionately involved in the OSM community while pursuing my PhD in GIS. My research focuses on spatial optimization, GeoAI, and volunteered geographic information (VGI).
During my journey with OpenStreetMap, I have made notable contributions by developing software tools aimed at automating the map updating process. These contributions include OSM-GAN[1], Poly-GAN, and DeepMapper[2], which leverage advanced techniques to improve the quality and accuracy of OSM data.
With a strong background in programming, I am proficient in Python, JavaScript, C, and C++. These programming languages enable me to create robust and efficient solutions to address the challenges associated with updating and maintaining the OSM database.
I am committed to driving innovation and automation in the map-updating process. I invite you to stay tuned for my contributions to OpenStreetMap as I continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in enhancing the quality and usability of OSM data.
I have developed a software application called OSMTimeMachine, which serves as a valuable resource for the OSM community. OSMTimeMachine offers a user-friendly interface and powerful functionalities for exploring historical OSM data. It facilitates research and analysis of spatial-temporal patterns within the OpenStreetMap dataset.
