Ontario/Railways
This page documents all of Ontario's freight, industrial and passenger railways as mapped in OSM.
Much of Ontario's railway network have been imported from Geobase and Canvec, and while improvements have been made, there were still much for improvement, as with track alignment, missing railway crossings, or missing or incorrect track data (e.g. track names, usage and service tags, speed limit).
Ontario's major railway owners are Canadian National Railway (CN), Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), Metrolinx and Ontario Northland. Also in Ontario are a subway network in Toronto, light rail and/or streetcar networks in Toronto, Ottawa and Kitchener-Waterloo, and a few scattered heritage/tourist lines. Mainline passenger services are operated by VIA Rail, GO Transit and Ontario Northland Railway.
